Louise - Embodied Pilates Studio

Meet Louise Carey

“It’s wonderful to be back home, here in our amazing city, and it’s even better to be back as one of the founders and instructors at Embodied Pilates.

“I was first introduced to Pilates when I was volunteering in Bolivia, South America. Ever since then, even in the actuarial and finance world, where I worked for many years, my practice has always helped me to find balance in my life. I’m so delighted that as part of Embodied Pilates Studio, I now get to help you find that balance.

“For me, nothing beats seeing someone achieving movement they previously thought was outside the realms of their ability. And I see it every single day. That’s why, ever since my own teacher asked me to train to become an instructor, I have never stopped learning. Our bodies have so much to teach us.

“I completed my first Pilates training in 2014 (Advanced Diploma in Pilates Matwork Level 3), and soon my stressed-out colleagues were asking me to teach them in meeting rooms at lunchtimes and in the evenings. Since then, I’ve trained with:

  • BASI - The prestigious school of Pilates, as a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, for all Pilates apparatus.

  • Completed the Three Core Connections Embodied Perspective with Wendy Le Blanc Arbuckle. Wendy is a second-generation teacher - that is someone who studied extensively with an instructor whose training lineage comes directly from Joseph Pilates.

  • The world-renowned Madeleine Black, Immersive Series One and Two (identifying and assessing movement patterns and developing efficient plans and effective movement sequences for clients).

  • Art of Motion for Slings Myofascial training (this puts the work of Tom Myers – author of ‘Anatomy Trains’, a resource well known in the physiotherapy and movement world – into movement sequences).

At Embodied Pilates Laurie and I believe in excellence in everything we do. We keep learning, so that your progress can always continue.

“Our bodies, no matter how we perceive them to be – strong, weak, broken, recovering, easeful, never cease to amaze me. I’m looking forward to working with you to help you find your untold strength and real joy in your movement.”

“Nothing beats seeing someone achieving movement they previously thought was outside the realms of their ability.”
